LEDs Make Lighting Economical; the Sun Makes It Sustainable
DSLS LED solutions may incorporate a solar hybrid system with a reliable back-up grid connection. A patent-pending control unit manages the energy derived from solar and grid sources to maximize battery and LED life while ensuring you never go without light.
Solar Efficiency
DSLS uses Direct Distributive Power Generation (DDPG) solar technology. DDPG means solar is used at the point of application rather than generating electricity at a remote solar field and then distributing that power from afar to the specific application. By generating electricity at the point of need, not far away, we decrease overall power consumption and increase power efficiency.
Grid Backup
We recognize that solar does not have to be an all-or-nothing proposition. Using Vector retrofit products, customers can upgrade from standard lighting to solar by installing Vector’s hybrid solar-LED solutions directly into their existing infrastructure, resulting in the least environmental impact, no waste, minimal incremental cost, and 100% reliability since the system maintains a backup grid connection. Existing light fixtures, poles and electrical connections are all re-used, and solar augments the existing connection to the grid. For many applications, solar energy can supply up to 100% of the power needed to run the existing light.
Power Management and Control Systems Technology
DSLS solar-LED hybrid products use a patent-pending, control technology called the Self Powered Device Interface (SPDI). SPDI is a microprocessor-based, solid-state device that allows for unprecedented control of LED lighting applications, flexible interfaces and much more.
For solar-LED hybrid devices, SPDI [speed• ee] can:
- Intelligently manage charging and discharge of the battery
- Dynamically adjust levels of illumination
- Be programmed with many inputs: clock time, ambient light levels, temperature, and motion detection
- Automatically handle the switch between battery and grid power producing 100% illumination reliability
If the insolation (solar gain) on a particular day has not sufficiently charged the battery, the processor will automatically switch to grid power to ensure lighting levels are maintained.
